STELLA McCARTNEY

The brand Stella McCartney was founded in London in 2001 by Stella McCartney. It is a luxury brand loved by celebrities around the world for its fusion of sexy and feminine designs.

Stella is the daughter of former Beatles member Paul McCartney and, from an early age, she idolized the fashion industry. Her admiration did not diminish as she grew up, and in 1997, at the age of 25, Stella was selected by the prestigious French fashion brand Chloé to become its Creative Director. After gaining further experience at Chloé, Stella left in 2001 to start her own brand, which she had always longed to do. Stella McCartney was launched in partnership with Gucci.

The appeal of Stella McCartney is not only in its design quality.

From the very beginning, the brand has promoted sustainability and is famous for continuing to produce products with a high awareness of the global environment and animal welfare.

This is why Stella McCartney has never used leather or fur since its inception. The brand can be described as a pioneer of “sustainable fashion”.

Now receiving attention around the world, and spreading rapidly through the modern fashion industry, “sustainable fashion" refers to the production of clothing that can be worn for years to come and that considers the global environment and societal issues in the full life of the product, from production through to disposal of the garment.

Stella is concerned about the large number of cows killed in the production of leather goods, and pollution caused to the environment by using large quantities of chemicals. This is why Stella McCartney bans the use of leather in its products, even if this restricts the design considerably, and this attitude has received much praised.
