Max Mara

Max Mara was founded in 1951 by Achille Maramotti. Its name is said to be a combination of Achille's childhood nickname 'Max,' and the family name, 'Maramotti'.

Archille’s mother ran a sewing school, and his great-grandmother also came from a fashion family that owned a bespoke high-end women's clothing store. He grew up in an environment where fashion was always close by, which meant he learnt about it naturally.

However, Archille did not initially pursue a career in fashion, but went to law school and then became a lawyer. It was not until later, in his 40s, that Archille got involved in fashion.

When Max Mara was founded, the brand specialized in coats. At the time, coats were usually made-to- measure, with craftsmen carefully finishing each item individually by hand. However, Max Mara introduced factory production and revolutionized the order made world. It was the moment in history when the delicate production of made-to-measure and the speed of factory production were combined.

Factory-made, ready-to-wear products could not be elaborately designed, but Max Mara continued to make elegant, fashionable, ready-to-wear garments that rivaled haute couture available to the world.

Max Mara’s caramel-colored coats are very famous, and with their long-lasting quality and clean lines the coats are suitable for any era and never get old.

Once released, Max Mara’s coat collection became popular with celebrities and models, and captivated many working women, making it a top performing collection.Worn by people such as Princess Catherine and adored as a prize possession for women everywhere.

it is said that if you have just one of these coats, you can wear it for the rest of your life.
